We had a great day on Sunday. Went to Chester-le-Street and all met up at James's house. Ros was in Liverpool for a hen do and JJ was at Linda and Philip's so the party consisted of James, Josie, Ian, me, Paul, Fi, Lumley, Faye, Emily and Smiler. I managed to walk down to the Riverside, slowly, and we got into the ground very quickly in spite of the usual security search.
Australia batted first and we got 2 very quick wickets, after which it settled into a steady rhythm and then England took a load of wickets in quick succession and we bowled them all out for less than 200.
The weather was glorious and the children behaved beautifully. At lunchtime, James took Josie home and left her with Caz because she was ready for a nap and Lumley and Faye took Emily for a stroll in the buggy so she went off to sleep too. We had hot beef sandwiches and beer and red wine before returning for the England innings. We were doing really well until Strauss got out and then things slipped a bit but we won in the end off 2 no-balls, which was a bit of an anticlimax.
We all went back to James's and Ros was home. Smiler left straight away but the rest of us stayed for tea and Paul took a look at my arm and said I'd torn a couple of muscles. Then Paul and Fi went home and we went to church.
I was really tired when we got home and went to bed about 9.30.
